Webbing grips or Capstan fixtures are engineered for tensile testing of straps, ribbons, seat belts, slings and webbing. These extra wide materials are fixed around the wrapping column and then secured by locking pins. The grips are ideal for high strength webbing materials. Safety in the lab starts with a protective shield or debris shield. The shield consisting of a fixed side and a hinged door side can be custom designed to fit any and all testers made by Instron™, MTS™, Thwing Albert™, Zwick™, Tinius Olsen™ and others. It places a protective shield between the operator and the breaking test specimen. The shield is constructed of shatterproof clear polycarbonate surrounded by aluminum framing. The door is fitted with a latch that can be configured with an interlock to help protect the user from moving parts on the test frame.
